Life For Mothers is proud to announce the launch of its Pilot Project in Busujju County, Mityana District in Uganda. Over 4 weeks ago Life For Mothers procured the phones to be used by the VHTs in their respective villages. Subsequently, the 6 questionnaires were developed and revised to capture data on children over five with women not of reproductive age, children under five, newborns (28 days or less), husbands/partners, women over the age of 50 and lastly women of reproductive age. The VHTs went through multiple training sessions to use the phones as well as formal workshops on HIV/AIDS, Family Planning, Reproductive/Maternal Health and Child Survival. After the applications were placed on the phones, the VHTS went into the field to register and collect data regarding the households in their villages. The Pilot Project is presently ongoing. To date over 4500 patients have been registered along with over 1300 women of reproductive age. We will keep you informed of our progress as well as the challenges we have experienced to bring the project to the implementation phase. Ongoing verification of the data is taking place along with fixing errors and gaps. Rigorous analysis will be done after completion and Life For Mothers looks forward to publishing its findings.
