The Commission on Information and Accountability for Women’s and Children’s Health Releases Report

AUTHOR:The Commission on Information and Accountability for Women’s and Children’s Health

The Commission on Information and Accountability for Women’s and Children’s Health released its final report last week, offering 10 recommendations for countries to improve accountability, oversight, and reporting in health policies and programs for women’s and children’s health.  These recommendations all point toward an increase of accountability “through three interconnected processes – monitor, review, and act” for all countries and partners involved in program and policy implementation. The focus on improving data collection, reporting of births, deaths, and cause of death, and the tracking and measurement of resources and results echoes Life for Mother’s focus on strengthening health systems through increased reporting and improved information technology at the community level.
