Uganda brought to its knees as doctors' strike paralyses health service

AUTHOR:Samuel OkirorSOURCE:The Guardian

Doctors in Uganda continue their strike despite threats from President Museveni. Having working in Uganda where the health system is so very fragile, with extremely high maternal and infant mortality rates; this can only result in further deaths. It is unfortunate that political will is lacking to fairly compensate doctors, nurses and all medical personnel for their dedicated and resilent efforts in providing services to a population so desperate in need. We, at Life for Mothers sincerely hope that this calamity will be quicly resolved without additional lives lost.
