A report released earlier this month by the Secretariat of the World Health Organization (WHO) on the monitoring of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) recognized that maternal mortality (MDG #5) has remained unchanged for the past 20 years! More than 500,000 lives are lost each year with devastating consequences. LIFE FOR MOTHERS' mission is to create a paradigm shift in health care delivery and access for women in developing countries by implementing a holistic strategy that includes women's empowerment and health system strengthening. Please join LFM in these efforts to reduce deaths of mothers and newborns (for the full report go to the link above).
