Media Coverage and Spotlight on High US Maternal Mortality Continues

Last week the magazine Mother Jones wrote that US maternal mortality rates have doubled over the past 30 years despite all the technological advances and massive increases in health care costs. They refer to the CDC (Centers for Disease Control) identifying multiple factors that can contribute to these deaths. The article also puts Black women at having a greater risk of dying (almost 4X) compared to white or Hispanic women. Serena William's experience with a near death child birth was exposed in the February issue of Vogue magazine.
